Jack Russell Training Tips for Leave It Command
Dog enthusiast or not, people are aware of the fact that a jack russell who lacks jack russell training is quite likely to cause embarrassment as opposed to those who are fortunate enough to get appropriate training. Not only such a pet will cause embarrassment but can also risk his life and those around him should things turn unmanageable. That explains why training your four-legged friend with basic commands in a timely manner is of utmost importance.

One of the basic commands your precious terrier ought to master is "leave it". The said command can be extremely useful in various instances, both indoors and outdoors. If you're out exercising your pet and he begins to show curiosity on the dead frog in the street or if he starts to take a look at the garbage can found in the kitchen, the "leave it" command can help you save the day.

Jack russell training involving the said command is not that difficult. All you will need is the most appealing, high value treat in addition to your dedication and patience. In an atmosphere familiar to your dog, hold the treat in your palm. When he comes forward to get the treat, close your hand so as to prevent him from having it. Regardless of his whining or barking to get the treat, simply hold it in your hand without yelling or scolding him. Just wait until he has calmed down and when he does, praise and give him reward for "leaving it".

Repeat the strategy for three to four times and as soon as he has finally picked up the behavior, start adding the verbal command. Instead of closing your hand to hold the treat, eventually substitute it with the verbal cue "leave it". Practice the behavior until he learns to obey the command in different spots such as your dining room, front yard, vet clinic, dog park and other public facilities he might need to go.

Enforce the command in your daily activities to hone the behavior.
